About This Job

The Archdiocese of Malta is seeking to recruit an Accountant on a full-time basis. Reporting to the Assistant Financial Controller/Financial Controllers, the selected candidate will be responsible for finance related tasks of a number of Entities, which include the preparation, organisation and upkeep of financial records, the computation and submission of tax returns, and the liaison with the external and internal auditors. The role also involves assisting in the supervisory oversight of work carried out by members of staff as well as supporting the Finance function.

The ideal candidate must have:

  • A Bachelor of Commerce degree or full ACCA qualification. Candidates that are in the final stages of their studies will also be considered.
  • Previous experience in a similar role will be considered an asset; however, candidates with limited professional experience, including through internships, academic projects or voluntary work, will also be considered, provided they demonstrate the required competencies and potential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software packages.
  • Supervisory capability, including the review of staff work to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with established procedures.
  • A good command of both English and Maltese.
  • Strong numeracy and communication skills, with attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • The ability to meet deadlines and operational requirements.
  • Sound professional judgement in the review of financial information.
  • The ability to coordinate staff and oversee staff effectively.
  • A high level of discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
