Role Overview
The AML Manager will play a key role in ensuring adherence to anti-money laundering regulations and maintaining robust compliance practices. This role involves monitoring financial transactions, implementing AML frameworks, and liaising with regulatory authorities to mitigate risks. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead compliance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities

AML Monitoring Programme Implementation: Assist with the development and execution of AML monitoring strategies.

Team Leadership: Oversee day-to-day AML activities, ensuring proper team training and coaching.

Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with the Financial Institutions Act, MFSA directives, Central Bank regulations, and Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit guidelines.

Regulatory Liaison: Communicate with external regulatory bodies and enforcement agencies as needed.

Suspicious Transaction Reporting: Submit Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) or equivalent as required.

Risk Detection & Fraud Prevention: Monitor financial transactions for irregularities, account discrepancies, and unusual patterns to prevent fraud.

Policy Compliance: Ensure adherence to the Customer Acceptance Policy and Transaction Monitoring Policy.

Training & Guidance: Provide regular AML training and guidance to the team and key stakeholders.

KPI & Board Reporting: Report key performance indicators and monitoring outcomes to the Head of Department and assist with Board of Directors reporting.

Remediation Projects: Support remediation projects and sampling of cases.

Outsourcing & ICT Risk Assessment: Assist with evaluating risks associated with outsourcing arrangements and ICT third parties.

Digital Operational Resilience: Provide ongoing support in implementing the Digital Operational Resilience Act and relevant regulations.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

Education: A degree in Compliance, Banking & Finance, Legal Studies, or a related field. A Compliance or Legal qualification is preferred.

Experience: Previous experience in an AML or compliance-related role within the financial services sector.

Language Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of Maltese is an asset.

Communication Skills: Strong ability to draft reports and communicate regulatory requirements effectively.

Interpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and liaise with regulatory authorities.

Technical Skills: Strong analytical skills to assess compliance and financial risk.

Organisation: Detail-oriented with a structured approach to managing compliance processes.

Self-Motivated: Ability to take initiative and proactively address compliance challenges.
