Role Overview
\nThe AML Manager will play a key role in ensuring adherence to anti-money laundering regulations and maintaining robust compliance practices. This role involves monitoring financial transactions, implementing AML frameworks, and liaising with regulatory authorities to mitigate risks. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to lead compliance initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
\n\nAML Monitoring Programme Implementation: Assist with the development and execution of AML monitoring strategies.
\n\tTeam Leadership: Oversee day-to-day AML activities, ensuring proper team training and coaching.
\n\tRegulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with the Financial Institutions Act, MFSA directives, Central Bank regulations, and Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit guidelines.
\n\tRegulatory Liaison: Communicate with external regulatory bodies and enforcement agencies as needed.
\n\tSuspicious Transaction Reporting: Submit Suspicious Transaction Reports (STRs) or equivalent as required.
\n\tRisk Detection & Fraud Prevention: Monitor financial transactions for irregularities, account discrepancies, and unusual patterns to prevent fraud.
\n\tPolicy Compliance: Ensure adherence to the Customer Acceptance Policy and Transaction Monitoring Policy.
\n\tTraining & Guidance: Provide regular AML training and guidance to the team and key stakeholders.
\n\tKPI & Board Reporting: Report key performance indicators and monitoring outcomes to the Head of Department and assist with Board of Directors reporting.
\n\tRemediation Projects: Support remediation projects and sampling of cases.
\n\tOutsourcing & ICT Risk Assessment: Assist with evaluating risks associated with outsourcing arrangements and ICT third parties.
\n\tDigital Operational Resilience: Provide ongoing support in implementing the Digital Operational Resilience Act and relevant regulations.
\n\tQualifications, Skills, and Attributes
\n\nEducation: A degree in Compliance, Banking & Finance, Legal Studies, or a related field. A Compliance or Legal qualification is preferred.
\n\tExperience: Previous experience in an AML or compliance-related role within the financial services sector.
\n\tLanguage Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Knowledge of Maltese is an asset.
\n\tCommunication Skills: Strong ability to draft reports and communicate regulatory requirements effectively.
\n\tInterpersonal Skills: Ability to work collaboratively within a team and liaise with regulatory authorities.
\n\tTechnical Skills: Strong analytical skills to assess compliance and financial risk.
\n\tOrganisation: Detail-oriented with a structured approach to managing compliance processes.
\n\tSelf-Motivated: Ability to take initiative and proactively address compliance challenges.
\n\tProblem-Solving: Capacity to identify compliance risks and implement effective solutions.
