Role Overview The Assistant Financial Controller will play a key role in supporting the Financial Controller with overseeing day-to-day finance operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. The position involves managing the accounts team, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to process improvements. Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; consolidate reports from various departments and subsidiaries; and analyse budget variances to identify discrepancies.
\r\n
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts, analysing relevant data and tracking expenditures against budgets.
\r\n
Month-End and Year-End Closing: Manage month-end close procedures, reconcile balance sheet accounts, and support audit activities by coordinating with auditors and addressing queries.
\r\n
General Ledger Management: Oversee journal entry approvals, maintain ledger accuracy, and ensure proper fixed asset accounting.
\r\n
Internal Controls: Enforce adherence to internal controls and financial policies, propose risk mitigation strategies, and contribute to the continuous improvement of accounting processes.
\r\n
Cash Flow Management: Support the preparation of cash flow forecasts, monitor banking activities, and review accounts payable and receivable to ensure optimal cash flow.
\r\n
Tax and Regulatory Compliance: Ensure timely and accurate tax submissions and compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
\r\n
Financial Analysis: Deliver insightful profitability and variance analyses, and assist management with strategic cost-benefit assessments.
\r\n
Team Support and Development: Lead and support the accounting team, offering mentorship, guidance, and training to enhance team capabilities.
\r\n
System and Process Improvements: Take part in the implementation and optimisation of accounting systems, and drive efficiency through automation and process streamlining.
\r\n

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
\r\n
\r\n
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. ACCA qualification will be considered an asset.
\r\n
Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within a technology-driven environment.
\r\n
Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
\r\n
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain financial information clearly and concisely.
\r\n
Interpersonal Skills: Team-oriented with the ability to lead, motivate, and engage others while collaborating across departments.
\r\n
Technical Skills: Proficiency in cloud-based accounting systems, ERP platforms, and advanced Excel and analytical tools.
\r\n
Organisation: Highly organised with a meticulous approach to detail and deadlines.
\r\n
Self-Motivated: Proactive and able to work independently, with a drive to continually learn and develop.
\r\n
Problem-Solving: Capable of evaluating financial issues and delivering effective, strategic solutions.
