Position: Brewing Operator
Department: Montekristo Direct / Estates
Reports to: Brewer / Head of Production
Position Objectives
The brewing operator will support and follow any instructions issued by the brewer in relation to good brewing practice. Such activities include brewing, cleaning and beer packaging. Full training will be provided.
Main Activities
- Brewing according to the provided brewing program and supplied brewsheets
- Managing the storage & consumption of raw materials (Malt, hops, yeast, other additives) in an efficient manner preventing ageing, deterioration or spoilage. Such includes the checking of materials on arrival, storage, stock control, labelling, weighing, cleaning etc.
- To ensure all brewing equipment and related supporting services (cooling, heating, cleaning, storage) are used as directed, kept in good working condition by regular servicing, ensure optimum running and immediate reporting in case of deviations, malfunctions or breakdown.
- To carry out any brewing activities as necessary (including brewing, transferring, cleaning, packaging etc), thus ensuring beer of the highest quality is available for dispense. This includes cleaning of dispense systems in outlets as directed.
- To monitor quality of all materials and products through on-line equipment and/or lab equipment as necessary. To take necessary records and carry out cleaning and calibration activities as necessary.
- Prevent wastages of raw materials, wort or beer whilst preventing dilutions or quality deterioration.
- Participate in any maintenance (planned or emergency) to minimize or do without creating gaps in the process or obligations.
- Ensuring the whole brewing areas are kept in an organized and clean state and managing wastes in an appropriate manner.
- To take and record any readings accurately as necessary (quantities, volumes, temperatures etc).
- To work in a team and manage any brewing operator assigned to his/her responsibility.
- To participate in training on standard operating procedures/work instructions etc and operate according to such documentation-based training.
- Monitor and manage chemical and energy consumptions and ensure any adjustments are done in time to minimize deviations and inefficiencies.
- To follow any instructions related to health and safety, take the necessary precautions, avoid risks, make proper use of personal protective equipment and suggest improvements as necessary.
- Participate in the upgrades of plants, new plants, new equipment.
- To be available as necessary on any site and during non-working hours as the need arises.
- To follow as directed and carry out any duties as assigned by the Brewer/Head of Production.
Working conditions
This job requires an able-bodied person and involves some manual handling, working in confined spaces (vessels), working with electricity and chemical handling.
It is a full-time job with 40hrs/week from Monday to Friday [0730hrs-1600hrs with a 30 minute break] and with the possibility of overtime.

Eligibility criteria
Previous brewing experience is not a must but will be considered favourably.
Able to communicate properly in English (read, write, speak)
Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
Able to work independently and as part of a team
Provide a clean police conduct not older than 6 months.
