About This Job
Job Title: Compliance & Legal Officer
Reports to: Associate General Counsel
About us:
Welcome to Pinnacle, a leading provider of sportsbook and gaming services since 1998. As a globally recognized and licensed online gaming company, we are committed to delivering a reliable and high-quality experience for sports enthusiasts.
At Pinnacle, we foster a collaborative and innovative work environment where professionals can contribute to the evolving world of sports betting. Our team is dedicated to setting industry standards and enhancing the experience for our customers worldwide. Join us and be part of a dynamic organization that values expertise, integrity, and continuous improvement in the sports gaming industry.
Role Overview:
This role is structured in two phases. Initially, you will take full ownership of our corporate due diligence and KYC function — bringing existing records up to standard, establishing systems that keep them there, and managing all documentation exchanged with our business partners.
As that function stabilises, the role expands into contract review and broader legal support. We are looking for someone who sees the first phase as work worth doing properly, rather than as something to get past.
Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Due Diligence & KYC (primary focus)
- Audit existing counterparty and partner KYC records, identify expired or incomplete documentation, and bring all files to a compliant standard.
- Build and maintain a central register of due diligence documentation with clear ownership, expiry dates and renewal triggers.
- Prepare, verify and issue corporate KYC packs in response to requests from partners, licensees, banking and payment providers, and regulators, meeting agreed turnaround times.
- Conduct and document ongoing due diligence on business partners, including corporate structure and UBO verification, sanctions and PEP screening, licence validation and adverse media checks.
- Track renewal deadlines and proactively obtain refreshed documentation before expiry.
- Act as the primary point of contact for all inbound and outbound due diligence requests.
Compliance
- Assess current procedures for compliance gaps and implement appropriate updates.
- Maintain documented procedures for the due diligence process so the function is auditable and does not depend on one person's memory.
- Support AML, GDPR and responsible gambling obligations as they apply to partner relationships.
Contracts & Agreements (developing over time)
- Review supplier agreements, software licensing agreements and partner contracts.
- Draft and negotiate standard commercial agreements as volume grows.
- Manage contract variations, renewals and expiry tracking.
- Ensure contractual terms align with company policy and applicable regulation.
Risk Management
- Identify legal and regulatory risks arising from partner relationships and contractual arrangements, and recommend practical mitigations.
Confidentiality
- This role has access to sensitive commercial, corporate and personal information. You will be expected to exercise strict discretion — including with colleagues and peers within the organisation — and to apply need-to-know handling as a matter of routine.
Experience and Qualifications:
- A law degree from a recognised university, or an equivalent legal qualification.
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in a legal, compliance or corporate due diligence role, preferably within the iGaming or online sports betting industry.
- Demonstrated experience managing KYC or due diligence documentation, including B2B or corporate onboarding.
- Strong working knowledge of AML regulations, GDPR, corporate compliance requirements and responsible gambling frameworks.
Skills:
- Precise and detail-oriented — accurate records matter more here than speed.
- Highly organised, with a track record of meeting deadlines without being chased.
- Comfortable owning a process end to end and building structure where little currently exists.
- Discreet and trustworthy with confidential information.
- Willing to do the groundwork before the more senior work becomes available.
Benefits:
- Private Health Insurance
- Monthly Fitness Subsidy
