Cybersecurity Trainers – Contract Assignment
About the role
IDEA Consulting is looking for experienced Security and Cybersecurity Trainers to develop and deliver a professional training programme in cyber security strategy, information security and cloud security. This is contract-based work for a fixed assignment from November 2026 to the end of March 2027, with the possibility of further assignments in the future. All training is delivered during office hours, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
The programme is non-credit-bearing professional training for technical, operational, governance and managerial staff working in cyber security, information assurance, risk management and digital resilience. Delivery combines instructor-led theory with practical demonstrations, guided exercises and scenario-based discussions.
The Assignment
IDEA Consulting is looking for experienced Security and Cybersecurity Trainers to develop and deliver a professional training programme in cyber security strategy, information security and cloud security. This is contract-based work for a fixed assignment from the end of November 2026 to the end of March 2027, with the possibility of further assignments in the future. The assignment covers three topics, totalling 98 hours of content. The areas below are the most demanding parts of the syllabus; trainers able to deliver these will be expected to cover the foundational material that supports them.
o Communicating cyber risk to boards and executives in business terms: impact, likelihood and organisational exposure
o Qualitative and quantitative cyber risk assessment, including financial, legal and reputational impact estimation
o Enterprise-wide incident management: escalation structures and integration with business continuity and crisis management
o Risk-based patch prioritisation and resource optimisation
o Cyber insurance: coverage types, limitations, claims and its place in risk transfer strategy
Foundations of Information Security
o Attacker lifecycle from reconnaissance to persistence, with analysis of major breaches
o Secure design and system architecture: least privilege, separation of duties, defence-in-depth and secure defaults
o Applied cryptography: PKI, digital signatures, TLS and authenticated encryption in modern systems
o Compliance standards and information security programme management: governance frameworks, policy development and continuous improvement
Cloud Security
o Cloud architecture risk assessment: misconfigurations, identity weaknesses and insecure integrations
o Cloud identity and access management, encryption and key management services
o Cloud security operations: monitoring, logging, alerting and incident response with cloud service providers
o Root-cause analysis of real-world cloud breaches
o Cloud compliance requirements and emerging cloud security technologies
Assignment details
• Contract type: contract basis, with the possibility of further assignments in the future
• Assignment period: end of November 2026 to end of March 2027
• Training times: all training is delivered during office hours, from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Key responsibilities
• Develop training content and materials for the assigned topics, including slides, case studies, exercises and scenario-based activities, in line with the programme's modules and learning outcomes.
• Deliver instructor-led sessions to mixed groups of technical, operational, governance and managerial participants.
• Combine theory with practical demonstrations, guided exercises and analysis of real-world breaches.
• Adapt delivery to participants' organisational context while maintaining learning outcomes and professional standards.
• Coordinate session scheduling with IDEA Consulting throughout the assignment period.
• Hand over all developed content to the Institute on completion of the assignment.
Requirements
Essential
• Proven professional experience in cyber security, information security or cloud security.
• Demonstrable experience delivering professional or adult training, ideally to both technical and management audiences.
• Ability to design and develop training content from a defined programme of study.
• Excellent command of English, spoken and written.
• Able to work on a self-employed basis and issue invoices.
• Availability to deliver during office hours (8:30 AM to 5:00 PM) between end of November 2026 and end of March 2027.
Desirable
• A degree in IT, computer science, cyber security or a related field.
• Recognised certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CISA, CCSP, CCSK, CompTIA Security+, or cloud provider security certifications (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud).
• A training qualification, such as the MQF Level 4 Award in Train the Trainer.
• Experience presenting cyber risk to boards or senior leadership.
• Working knowledge of frameworks and regulations such as ISO/IEC 27001, NIST CSF, NIS2 and DORA.
