Deliver goods safely and efficiently across scheduled routes, ensuring timely customer service, accurate documentation, and adherence to road safety and company procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and collect shipments according to daily route plans, ensuring correct items and quantities are transported.
- Operate heavy goods vehicle (Category C) safely, performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and reporting defects.
- Load and unload cargo securely, using appropriate manual handling techniques and, where applicable, basic handling equipment.
- Maintain accurate delivery records, including delivery notes, proof of delivery signatures, mileage logs, and any incident or damage reports.
- Communicate with customers professionally to confirm deliveries, resolve minor issues on-site, and update on delivery times when required.
- Follow traffic laws and safety procedures, complying with company policies, transport regulations, and health & safety standards.
- Assist with warehouse duties as needed, such as stock checking, basic inventory tasks, and preparing goods for dispatch.
- Contribute to vehicle cleanliness and maintenance, ensuring the vehicle is fuelled, tidy, and stocked with necessary paperwork and equipment.
Skills and Qualifications
- Valid Category C EU driving licence with a clean driving record.
- Entry-level experience preferred; willingness to learn and gain experience in delivery operations.
- Basic knowledge of vehicle safety checks and safe loading practices.
- Good time management and punctuality; ability to follow schedules and adapt to route changes.
- Basic literacy and numeracy for record keeping and handling delivery documentation.
- Elementary Maltese language ability to communicate with local customers and colleagues.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual handling tasks and work on feet for extended periods.
- Professional attitude, reliability, and strong customer-service orientation.
- Ability to work onsite and independently with minimal supervision.
