Provide chairside support to the dental team, ensure a smooth patient experience, and maintain a safe, hygienic clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Chairside Assistance: Prepare treatment rooms, pass instruments, suction, and assist the dentist during examinations and procedures (restorative, endodontic, extractions).
- Infection Control & Sterilisation: Decontaminate instruments, sterilise equipment, follow cross-infection protocols, and maintain clean clinical areas in line with regulatory standards.
- Patient Care & Communication: Greet patients, take medical/dental histories, explain procedures, provide pre- and post-operative instructions, and offer patient reassurance and support.
- Clinical Recordkeeping: Accurately update patient records, treatment notes, and consent forms using practice management software.
- Team Collaboration & Continuous Improvement: Work closely with dentists, hygienists, and reception staff to optimise patient flow and participate in training and quality initiatives.
Skills & Qualifications
- Education: Relevant dental assistant certificate or equivalent; basic life support/CPR certification preferred.
- Experience: Entry-level candidates welcome; prior chairside or dental clinic experience advantageous.
- Languages: Professional working proficiency in English and Maltese.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with dental instruments, sterilisation procedures, and dental practice management software; radiography certification an advantage.
- Personal Attributes: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong attention to detail, reliability, ability to multitask, and a patient-focused, compassionate approach.
- Regulatory & Professional Standards: Knowledge of local infection control guidelines and commitment to maintaining clinical compliance and patient confidentiality.
