Role Overview
The Digital Transformation Manager will lead the optimisation and transformation of banking operations with a particular focus on payments, settlements, and clearing functions. The role is responsible for ensuring operational efficiency, security, and compliance while driving digital transformation initiatives across key banking processes. Reporting to senior management, this position plays a pivotal part in strengthening operational resilience, enhancing customer service delivery, and embedding digital-first solutions across the business.

Key Responsibilities

Banking Operations & Process Optimisation: Identify and implement opportunities to automate and streamline workflows, ensuring efficiency, accuracy, and reduced manual intervention. Lead projects from conception to completion within budget and timelines.
\r\n
Clearing & Settlement Management: Oversee the effective execution of local and international clearing and settlement processes. Collaborate with central banks, clearinghouses, and payment networks to strengthen infrastructure and reduce processing times.
\r\n
Payments Processing & Digital Transformation: Partner with IT and Digital Channels teams to integrate digital payment solutions into core banking systems. Keep abreast of industry developments and implement best practices for digital payment processing.
\r\n
Testing: Develop and manage business test cases for System Integration Testing (SIT) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT), ensuring solutions meet business requirements and user expectations.
\r\n
Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure compliance with AML, KYC, SWIFT, and Central Bank frameworks. Collaborate with Risk and Compliance teams to mitigate operational risks and adapt processes in line with regulatory updates.
\r\n
Stakeholder Collaboration & Vendor Management: Foster collaboration across internal teams, including Operations, IT, Risk, and Finance, to drive transformation initiatives. Manage external relationships with payment processors, correspondent banks, and regulatory bodies, while providing training and support to staff on new systems.
\r\n
Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Establish and track KPIs to measure operational efficiency and security. Prepare reports for senior management highlighting performance trends, risks, and areas for improvement, maintaining documentation via tools such as Jira and Confluence.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
\r\n
\r\n
Education: A degree in Banking, Finance, Business, or a related discipline. Postgraduate qualifications would be considered an asset.
\r\n
Experience: At least 7 years’ experience in banking operations, payments, and clearing functions, with a proven track record in digital transformation and process automation.
\r\n
Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
\r\n
Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across multiple stakeholders.
\r\n
Interpersonal Skills: Collaborative approach with strong relationship-building and stakeholder management abilities.
\r\n
Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of payment processing systems, SWIFT, RTGS, instant payments, and compliance frameworks. Proficiency in using operational and project management tools.
\r\n
Organisation: Strong organisational and project management skills, capable of handling multiple priorities simultaneously.
\r\n
Self-Motivated: Proactive and driven with the ability to work independently and take initiative in leading transformation projects.
\r\n
Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with the ability to assess complex operational challenges and implement effective solutions.
