Overview
Responsible for maintaining cleanliness, hygiene, and safety standards across factory premises to support efficient operations and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- General Cleaning: Sweep, mop, vacuum, and scrub floors; remove waste and recyclables; clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, offices, and common areas.
- Production Area Maintenance: Clean machinery surfaces, production lines, conveyors, and adjacent floors according to production schedules and cleaning protocols; remove spills and debris promptly to prevent hazards.
- Sanitation & Disinfection: Apply approved cleaning agents and disinfectants to surfaces, equipment, and high-touch points following manufacturer and facility guidelines.
- Waste Management: Collect, segregate, and dispose of general and industrial waste safely; maintain waste collection points and ensure timely removal.
- Equipment Use & Care: Operate and maintain cleaning equipment (floor scrubbers, pressure washers, vacuums) safely; report faults and request servicing as needed.
- Health & Safety Compliance: Adhere to health, safety, and hygiene policies, including use of PPE; follow lockout/tagout and confined-space procedures where applicable.
- Reporting & Record-Keeping: Maintain cleaning logs, report hazards, incidents, or maintenance needs to supervisors; complete cleaning checklists and handover notes.
- Teamwork: Coordinate with production, maintenance, and supervisory teams to schedule cleaning activities with minimal disruption to operations.
- Continuous Improvement: Suggest and implement practical improvements to cleaning processes and workplace cleanliness.
Skills and Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience in industrial, factory, or large-scale cleaning environments preferred; associate-level experience acceptable.
- Language: Professional working proficiency in English for reading instructions, completing logs, and communicating with team members.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, sanitation procedures, and operation of standard cleaning equipment.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including standing, bending, lifting up to required limits, and working in varied temperature conditions.
- Attention to Detail: Strong focus on cleanliness standards, hygiene, and thoroughness.
- Safety Mindset: Knowledge of basic workplace health and safety practices; willingness to wear PPE and follow safety protocols.
- Reliability: Punctual, dependable, with good time-management and the ability to work onsite according to scheduled shifts.
- Interpersonal Skills: Team-oriented, ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively with supervisors.
Certifications in workplace hygiene, COSHH or a relevant cleaning qualification are advantageous but not mandatory.
