This role is ideal for an experienced professional ready to operate at Financial Controller level, working closely with the General Manager and Board of Directors and contributing to strategic financial decision-making.

Role Overview

The selected candidate will oversee the company’s financial operations, ensuring strong financial discipline across projects and delivering accurate, timely financial information to senior management. The role requires hands-on involvement in both operational accounting and financial control, with high visibility and responsibility within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Full responsibility for monthly management accounts, financial reporting, and variance analysis.

• Monitoring and control of project budgets, cost reports, cashflow forecasts, and subcontractor accounts.

• Preparation and submission of VAT returns and all related VAT compliance obligations.

• Preparation of NSO and Intrastat reports in line with statutory requirements.

• Preparation and coordination of corporate income tax computations and returns, liaising with auditors and tax advisors.

• Ensuring compliance with IFRS, Maltese VAT legislation, and direct tax regulations.

• Oversight of the integrity of the accounting system (Sage) and maintenance of accurate financial records.

• Providing financial analysis, forecasts, budgets, and strategic input to the General Manager and Board.

• Contribution to the continuous improvement of internal controls, financial procedures, and reporting structures.

Reporting Structure

The role reports directly to the General Manager and Board of Directors. The successful candidate will act as the organisation’s financial control lead, working closely with operational and project teams across the business.

Requirements & Profile

• Full accounting qualification (ACCA, ACA, CPA or equivalent); candidates in final stages may be considered for the right profile.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in accounting and financial control, preferably within the construction or contracting sector.

• Proven experience in financial control, management reporting, cashflow management, and project-based accounting.

• Strong technical knowledge of IFRS, Maltese VAT, and corporate taxation.

• High proficiency in Sage and advanced Excel (financial models, forecasts, dashboards).

• Commercially minded, analytical, and confident engaging with senior management, auditors, banks, and advisors.

• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.

What We Offer

• A competitive remuneration package aligned with seniority and experience.

• A key role within a growing and established construction group.

• Direct exposure to senior management and board-level decision-making.
