Role Overview \nThe Head of Communications will play a central role in leading the communications strategy of the entity, driving internal and external engagement, and overseeing media relations, digital content, events, and stakeholder outreach. Reporting to the CEO’s office, the role requires a strong communicator with leadership capability, integrity, and a keen understanding of strategic messaging within the environmental and public service sectors.

Key Responsibilities
\n\n

Strategic Communications Leadership: Develop and continuously evolve a comprehensive communications strategy aligned with the entity's mission and objectives.
\n\t
Internal Communications: Establish and maintain an informative internal communications platform and set clear protocols to ensure consistent messaging across all levels of the organisation.
\n\t
Media Relations & Content: Manage press relationships, take ownership of responses to media and parliamentary enquiries, and oversee the production of quality digital and print content, including website and social media management.
\n\t
Events & External Engagement: Plan and coordinate events in collaboration with various stakeholders including Ministries and public institutions, ensuring effective representation of the entity's public profile.
\n\t
Public Perception & Stakeholder Management: Analyse public perception data to identify areas of improvement, and develop strategies for strengthening public trust and stakeholder engagement.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
\n\n
\n\t
Education: A minimum of a bachelor’s degree (MQF Level 6) or higher in Marketing, Communications, or a related discipline, recognised by the Malta Qualifications Recognition Information Centre (MQRIC). Candidates without the required qualification but with at least five (5) years of relevant experience may also be considered.
\n\t
Experience: At least three years of relevant work experience in a communications or public relations leadership role. Prior experience in public sector or sustainability-focused organisations will be considered an asset.
\n\t
Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
\n\t
Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey key messages clearly and persuasively.
\n\t
Interpersonal Skills: Confident and respectful in engaging with internal teams, media, government bodies, and the wider public.
\n\t
Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in content creation, digital communications platforms, and media monitoring tools.
\n\t
Organisation: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Self-Motivated: A results-oriented individual with a strong work ethic who leads by example and upholds high personal and professional standards.
