Role Overview \nThe Head of Tax Strategy & Advisory will lead the direct tax function within the organisation, providing strategic and technical guidance on all direct tax matters. This role includes managing complex tax issues, ensuring compliance with regulations, optimising tax strategies, and leading a team of tax professionals to deliver high-quality advisory services.

Key Responsibilities
\n\n

Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement the direct tax strategy in line with the Business’s financial and operational objectives. Provide expert advice on tax planning, compliance, and risk management, staying updated on regulatory changes and their implications.
\n\t
Tax Advisory & Compliance: Oversee the preparation and review of direct tax returns and filings to ensure accuracy and adherence to regulations. Advise on corporate tax, capital gains, transfer pricing, withholding taxes, tax treaties, and other direct tax matters. Provide guidance on tax-efficient structures for mergers, acquisitions, and reorganisations.

Client and Stakeholder Management: Serve as the main point of contact for senior management, auditors, tax authorities, and external advisors on direct tax matters. Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, representing the Business in audits, disputes, and negotiations.
\n\t
Team Leadership & Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the direct tax advisory team, enhancing technical skills and overall performance. Manage resources effectively to ensure timely delivery of services, while fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing culture.
\n\t
Risk Management & Reporting: Identify and mitigate tax risks through proactive advisory and compliance initiatives. Ensure strong tax governance and controls are in place, and prepare reports and presentations for senior management on tax risks, opportunities, and compliance status.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
\n\n
\n\t
Education: Chartered Accountant, CPA, or an equivalent professional qualification in taxation.
\n\t
Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in direct tax advisory, preferably in a leadership capacity. Experience with multinational companies and cross-border tax matters is advantageous. Proven ability to manage complex tax projects, audits, and disputes.
\n\t
Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required. Knowledge of Maltese is an asset.
\n\t
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, capable of explaining complex tax concepts clearly.
\n\t
Interpersonal Skills: Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
\n\t
Technical Skills: Proficiency in tax software and Microsoft Office. Deep knowledge of direct tax laws, regulations, and best practices.
\n\t
Organisation: Ability to prioritise and manage multiple projects efficiently under pressure.
\n\t
Self-Motivated: Proactive, driven, and capable of taking initiative in a fast-paced environment.

Problem-Solving: Analytical and strategic thinker, able to resolve complex tax issues effectively.
