Due to the expansion of our operations, we require for immediate employment A HEALTH, SAFETY, SECURITY & ENVIRONMENTAL (HSSE) OFFICER
Purpose:
The ideal candidate will be assisting the HSE Manager in participating in the implementation of a companywide HSE management system in line with standard requirements, corporate guidelines and local regulations with the aim of achieving the company HSE objectives.
Among other tasks, this role involves:
a. Auditing and Inspections
- Conduct regular HSE inspections across operational areas.
- Audit compliance with company policies, local regulations, and international standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001).
- Identify hazards, unsafe practices, or environmental risks and recommend corrective actions.
b. Incident Reporting and Investigations
- Document all HSE incidents, near misses, and accidents.
- Lead investigations to determine root causes.
- Prepare reports with findings, lessons learned, and preventive measures.
- Follow up on implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
c. Risk Assessments
- Conduct risk assessments for operations, equipment, and chemical handling.
- Identify potential hazards and implement control measures.
- Maintain and periodically update risk assessment records.
d. Environmental
- Monitor environmental aspects such as waste, water, emissions, and resource use.
e. Occupational Hygiene
- Monitor workplace conditions to protect employee health (chemical exposure, noise, dust, etc.).
- Implement health surveillance programs.
- Recommend engineering controls or PPE to reduce risks.
f. H&S Training
- Plan and conduct health and safety training for staff and contractors.
- Promote safe work practices, emergency procedures, and proper use of PPE.
- Raise awareness to foster a strong safety culture.
g. Security Responsibilities
- Monitor and enforce site security protocols and access control procedures.
- Liaising with the security on duty and be the point of reference between our company and the security contractor
- Issuing of card access passes
- And any other security issues
The ideal candidate should:
- Hold an MQF Level 6 (bachelor’s degree in safety or related fields)
- Experience: Minimum 3 years of work experience in Health & Safety, preferably in industrial or pharmaceutical environments.
- A sound scientific background with a minimum ‘A’ Level Chemistry
- Fluency in English
- Ability to conduct audits, risk assessments, and incident investigations
- Strong knowledge of occupational health, safety, environmental regulations,
- Knowledge of ISO14001 and ISO 45001International Standards
- Be fluent in the use of Microsoft Office Applications
