&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Overall Purpose of Position&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The role of a Land Surveyor 1 involves conducting surveys of road levels, manholes, and related invert levels to support the preparation of sewer proposals. The position requires precise measurements to establish property boundaries and provide critical data concerning the shape, contour, elevation, location, and dimensions of land or land features. This information is essential for various purposes, including engineering, land evaluation, construction, and related applications.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Main Accountabilities &amp;amp; Responsibilities&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;The selected candidate will be expected to:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Support field measurement and layout.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Develop and inspect land surveying project contracts.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Prepare and maintain sketches, maps, reports and legal descriptions of surveys in order to describe, certify and assume liability for work performed.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Perform duties related to land surveying for various uses such as land ownership and property boundaries, road levels and survey of exiting services.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Verify the accuracy of survey data, including measurements and calculations conducted at survey sites.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Record the results of surveys, including the shape, contour, location, elevation and dimensions of land or land features and WSC services.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Calculate heights, depths, relative positions, property lines and other characteristics.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Prepare all data, charts, plots, maps, records and documents related to surveys.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Plan and conduct ground surveys designed to establish baselines, elevations and other measurements.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Adjust surveying instruments in order to maintain their accuracy.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Analyse survey objectives and specifications in order to prepare survey proposals or to direct others in survey proposal preparation.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Conduct records management.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Conduct standard calculations to identify areas, elevation and volumes of field survey notes.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Conduct basic calculations using field note data.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Read, utilise and interpret design drawings and topographic maps.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Study, learn and interpret CAD computer applications.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Provide consistent and superior quality documents for surveying, design and civil projects.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Participate in and contribute to cross-functional teams as required, consult with relevant departments, as necessary, and provide training as may be required;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Undertake other technical assignments as directed by the management;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;· Carry out effectively any other duties and responsibilities and undertake other assignments as reasonably directed by the management.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Working Conditions&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;ol&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Expected to be in, and maintain, a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Expected to work flexible hours in order to meet accountabilities and attend to work after office hours, as may be required;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Abide by rules and regulations issued by WSC;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Consult with other sections as may be required;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;Expected to maintain oneself abreast with best practices relevant to the post and attend any training which may be provided;&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;li&gt;The nature of this position requires the employee to be physically present during working hours as per operational requirements.&lt;/li&gt;
&lt;/ol&gt;
&lt;p&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Qualifications and Experience&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;By the closing time and date of this call for applications, applicants must:&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;i. Be in possession of a recognized MQF Level 4 in Land Surveying OR&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;ii. Be in possession of MQF Level 3 in Land Surveying and two (2) years’ experience related to the job description OR;&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;iii. Four (4) years experience related to the job description&lt;br&gt;Experience in reading and understanding drawings and maps.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;iv. Ability to work with deadlines and under pressure.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;v. Be able to understand and make use of survey instruments and carry out routine checks.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;vi. Undertake topographical surveys of the quality standards specified by the employer.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;vii. Understand and interpret Engineering / Construction drawings and carry out setting out of simple construction elements.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;viii. The ability to use ICT in Surveying.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;ix. Understand the use of: map projections, graticules, grids and coordinate systems.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;x. Spatial Data Management&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;xi. Be in possession of Driving License Category B.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;xii. Candidates shall present a clean police conduct, not older than six (6) months from the date of application to the Board Members during the interview.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;xiii. The ideal candidate must be able to perform each essential duty of the position and have good communication and mathematical skills.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;The appointment is subject to a trial/probationary period of six (6) months during which time Appointees (i) will retain their substantive appointments, and (ii) need invariably undergo and pass through a specialized certification course to be organized by the Corporation as per exigencies. Failure to get certified as herein mentioned will automatically render the incumbent as having failed the trial/probationary and they shall return to their substantive grade upon notice issued by the Corporation to that effect.&lt;/p&gt;
