About This Job

The Managing Pharmacist is responsible for providing professional pharmaceutical services, ensuring the safe and effective dispensing of medicines, promoting health and wellbeing, and delivering exceptional customer care while complying with all applicable legislation and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities

Professional Duties

  • Dispense prescription medicines accurately and efficiently.
  • Verify prescriptions for legality, accuracy, interactions, and appropriateness.
  • Counsel patients on the safe and effective use of prescription and over-the-counter medicines.
  • Provide advice on minor ailments, health promotion, and disease prevention.
  • Monitor patient medication therapy and identify potential drug interactions or contraindications.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and professional ethics at all times.

Pharmacy Operations

  • Ensure compliance with Maltese pharmacy regulations and professional standards.
  • Maintain accurate pharmacy records and documentation.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with inventory management.
  • Ensure medicines are stored according to legal and manufacturer requirements.
  • Assist with ordering and receiving pharmaceutical stock where required.
  • Help maintain a clean, organised, and professional pharmacy environment.

Customer Service

  • Deliver outstanding customer service to every patient.
  • Build positive relationships with customers through professional advice and care.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer enquiries.
  • Promote pharmacy services and healthcare initiatives where appropriate.

Team Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with pharmacy colleagues and healthcare professionals.
  • Support and mentor pharmacy assistants and junior staff when necessary.
  • Be flexible in working across any of the company's pharmacy branches throughout Malta.

Requirements

Essential

  • Warrant to practise as a Pharmacist in Malta.
  • Eligibility to work in Malta.
  • Excellent command of both Maltese and English.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of professionalism and integrity.
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in a community pharmacy.
  • Knowledge of pharmacy management systems.
  • Experience in health promotion and patient counselling.
  • Additional language skills are considered an asset.
