Role Overview

The Purchasing Executive plays a pivotal role in ensuring smooth and effective procurement operations while balancing quality with cost efficiency. This position involves fostering relationships with internal departments and suppliers, managing stock and inventory control, and overseeing the Goods Receiving Officer and Storekeepers. The role supports operational and financial goals through strategic decision-making and cost-saving initiatives, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement of Goods: Procure items such as stationery, guest supplies, food, beverages, cleaning materials, and other operational necessities.
\n\t
Collaboration with Departments: Work closely with the Executive Chef, Bar Manager, and Restaurant Managers to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
\n\t
Supplier Negotiation: Negotiate costs with suppliers, monitor price fluctuations, and ensure Health and Safety compliance.
\n\t
Inventory Management: Maintain organised storage areas, oversee stock levels, conduct rotations, and perform spot checks for expiry dates.
\n\t
Team Supervision: Supervise and support the Goods Receiving Officer, ensuring effective team performance and development.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
\n\n
\n\t
Education: A relevant degree or equivalent qualification in procurement, supply chain management, or a related field.
\n\t
Experience: Demonstrated experience as a Purchasing Executive or a similar role, preferably in the hospitality industry.
\n\t
Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
\n\t
Communication Skills: Strong communication and negotiation skills to manage supplier relations and coordinate with internal departments.
\n\t
Interpersonal Skills: Proven ability to foster collaborative relationships across teams and with external partners.
\n\t
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Materials Control Software and the Microsoft Office Suite.
