
About This Job
The Robotics Engineer will work across the design, integration, testing and field deployment, and after sales of our robotic and autonomous platforms. Responsibilities include:
• Developing and integrating robotic hardware and control software for ground and aerial platforms
• Working with sensors, actuators, embedded controllers and imaging payloads — optical, thermal and LIDAR
• Writing, testing and documenting control, autonomy and data-processing code
• Assembling, commissioning and troubleshooting prototype and production systems
• Supporting field deployment, survey missions and on-site commissioning at customer facilities
• Contributing to computer vision and sensor fusion pipelines
• Producing technical documentation, test reports and system specifications
• Providing technical input on feasibility studies, integration scoping and customer requirements
• Carrying out after sales support on deployed systems
The balance of hardware, software and field work will be shaped around the candidate’s strengths, and there is scope to specialise over time.
The ideal candidate should meet or exceed the following requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with a special interest in Robotics, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical — or currently reading for an MSc / PhD in a related field.
• Programming ability in Python and/or C++
• Understanding of control systems, kinematics and sensor integration
• Practical, hands-on approach to building and debugging real hardware
• Ability to read and work from datasheets, schematics and technical documentation
• Good written and spoken English
• Comfortable working with limited supervision and taking a problem from specification to working system
Desirable to have:
• ROS or ROS 2
• Embedded platforms — STM32, Jetson, Raspberry Pi, Arduino
• UAV/UGV experience: flight controllers (PX4, ArduPilot), autonomy stacks, mission planning
• Computer vision, photogrammetry, SLAM or point-cloud processing
• Machine learning applied to perception or inspection tasks
• LIDAR, thermal or multispectral sensor integration
• Motor control, PLCs or industrial automation
• Laboratory automation or scientific instrumentation exposure
• Academic, competition or personal project work in robotics — final year projects, robotics competitions, open-source contributions
• Valid driving licence
• Drone pilot certification, or willingness to obtain one
We will consider:
• Recent engineering graduates with a strong academic robotics background and limited commercial experience
• Engineers with some industry experience in robotics, drones or automation
• MSc / Phd students seeking part-time work alongside their studies
