About This Job

The Role

The FIAU is seeking to recruit a Security Officer to join the People & Corporate Services section.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Safeguarding employees, visitors, and office property from theft, vandalism, or physical harm.
  • Opening and closing the main door of the premises at established times.
  • Access control of visitors / suppliers / contractors and evicting trespassers.
  • Accompanying any external visitors/ suppliers/ contractors.
  • Responsible for key management.
  • Receiving and screening mail and packages.
  • Conducting regular patrols to check for security breaches, unauthorised access, or safety hazards.
  • Carrying out inspections.
  • Defusing conflict situations.
  • Responding to alarms, disturbances, or suspicious activities promptly, day or night.
  • Providing first-line intervention in medical emergencies, such as first aid or CPR.
  • Investigating incidents and generating incident reports.
  • Monitoring electronic security equipment including, but not limited to, screening equipment, CCTV, fire control panel and intruder detection system.
  • Completing daily and periodic reports and maintaining site registers in line with procedures.
  • Assisting with the enforcement of any applicable health protocols that may be in force from time to time.
  • Coordinating and assisting as necessary during emergency situations.
  • Coordinating with local police for specific threats or incidents.
  • Able to work on a flexible roster which will include shifts between Monday and Sunday, day or night.
  • To carry out any other job-related duties as may be assigned by the Director, Deputy Director, and Section’s Head.

Requirements

  • In Possession of a Private Guard License.
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience working as a security officer in a similar environment.
  • Positive and helpful, with excellent customer care and a courteous attitude.
  • Certification in first aid including use of AED.
  • Certification in firefighting.
  • Effective communication skills in Maltese & English.
