Role Overview

The Senior Maintenance Engineer is a key role within the company, tasked with ensuring that production equipment is maintained to meet Quality, Yield, and Efficiency targets. The role includes implementing preventive maintenance programs, addressing breakdowns promptly, and maintaining facility equipment in safe working conditions to optimise operational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Equipment Breakdown Response: Provide immediate attention to all equipment breakdowns to minimise downtime and optimise yields, efficiencies, and quality.
\n\t
Preventive Maintenance Planning: Develop and implement annual preventive maintenance plans for all plant and auxiliary equipment.
\n\t
Budget Preparation: Prepare yearly maintenance budgets, covering capital investments, running expenses, consumables, external consultancy, workshops, spare parts, and personnel.
\n\t
Maintenance Support: Ensure that all facility equipment operates efficiently and effectively.
\n\t
Fault Monitoring: Continuously monitor site and plant equipment to identify and address potential faults proactively.
\n\t
Service Coordination: Collaborate with Maintenance, Process, and Quality teams to ensure projects meet specifications and deadlines.
\n\t
Environmental Compliance: Include all energy-consuming and environmentally impactful equipment in the preventive maintenance program.
\n\t
Work Verification: Review and verify maintenance work to ensure desired results are achieved.
\n\t
Spare Parts Management: Optimise spare parts inventory, balancing risk and cost while considering equipment condition and delivery times.
\n\t
Data Analysis: Log, record, and analyse maintenance data to implement corrective actions, reducing downtime and costs.
\n\t
Resource Optimisation: Maximise utilisation of departmental resources, including man-hours, spare parts, and consumables.
\n\t
Health and Safety Compliance: Ensure maintenance work adheres to health and safety regulations and standards.
\n\t
Technical Projects: Assist in coordinating technical projects for plant upgrades, modifications, and efficiency improvements.
\n\t
Performance Reviews: Conduct performance reviews for maintenance technicians to assess competency, knowledge, and contributions.
\n\t
Operational Reporting: Prepare reports, analyse data, and recommend improvements for plant operations and maintenance issues.
\n\t
Efficiency Projects: Initiate and execute projects that enhance efficiency or reduce operating costs.
\n\t
KPI Management: Track, analyse, and improve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
\n\t
Plant Performance: Participate in setting objectives, planning development, and reviewing plant performance.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

Experience: Minimum of three years in a maintenance engineering role within a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Language Skills: Excellent command of English; the ability to communicate in Maltese is an asset.
