The Role
The Financial Intelligence Analysis Unit (FIAU) is seeking to recruit a Senior Officer to join its Strategy and Quality Assurance Section to play a key role.
This position presents an exciting opportunity to actively contribute to the ongoing development and execution of strategic initiatives, supporting the FIAU’s long-term objectives and operational efficiency. It also involves assisting in the implementation of the FIAU’s Quality Assurance Plan, thus enhancing internal policies, procedures, and overall effectiveness, reinforcing the FIAU’s commitment to high quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Continuous engagement with all the FIAU Sections to assist in and implement the FIAU Strategy.
- Keep the Strategy up to date, in line with developments.
- Conduct Quality Assurance reviews of FIAU policies, procedures, and operations, within the timeframes set in the annual QA plans and in line with the QA procedures.
- Assist in the drafting of test plans outlining the scope, objectives, and methodology for QA assessments.
- Document findings, observations and recommendations with supporting evidence, to address identifiedweaknesses and improve FIAU operations.
- Follow up on the implementation of agreed recommendations, ensuring timely and effective corrective actions.
- Support the Risk Management Framework effectiveness.
- Participate in conferences, seminars, workshops and internal committees to keep abreast with revisions and updates to the AML/CFT legislative and institutional framework, both at local and international level.
- Provide ad-hoc assistance in connection with any evaluation, assessment or study being undertaken by the EU, Egmont, MONEYVAL, FATF and other organisations concerning or of interest to the FIAU or Malta.
- Fulfil any other duties delegated by the Director, Deputy Director, Head of Section, Senior Manager and Manager.
Requirements
- An MQF level 6 qualification in a subject relevant to this position, coupled with 4 years relevant work experience in AML/CFT, preferably within the financial services sector or any other sector under the FIAU’s supervisory remit; OR
- An MQF level 5 qualification in a subject relevant to this position, coupled with 5 years relevant work experience in AML/CFT, preferably within the financial services sector or any other sector under the FIAU’s supervisory remit.
- Preference will be given to candidates with experience in an audit or a quality assurance role.
- Ability to show a track record of competence, efficiency, and diligence in a relevant post.
- Be highly organised, have strong reasoning and analytical skills as well as a strong ability to read, understand and analyse.
- Have strong interpersonal and communication skills, including proficiency in report writing and delivering presentations.
- Be self-motivated and have a proactive approach, capable of working independently and leading tasks or projects with none or minimal supervision.
