Role Overview

Heroix is supporting our Client, a respected professional services firm, in the search for an Accountant to join its expanding accounting team. This role offers the opportunity to work with a varied portfolio of clients, supporting day-to-day accounting activities, statutory reporting, tax compliance, and financial record management while developing your technical expertise within a collaborative and professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Financial Record Management: Maintain accurate accounting records by processing financial transactions, updating ledgers, and ensuring all accounting information is complete and current.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare management accounts, trial balances, financial statements, cash books, and accounting journals in line with applicable accounting standards and reporting requirements.
  • Tax Compliance: Complete and submit personal income tax and VAT returns accurately and within statutory deadlines while ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Regulatory Liaison: Communicate with government departments and regulatory bodies when required, ensuring all statutory obligations are fulfilled efficiently.
  • Client & Team Support: Collaborate with colleagues to deliver high-quality accounting services while contributing to the successful completion of client assignments within agreed deadlines.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

  • Education: ACCA qualified or in possession of a recognised University degree in Accountancy or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Previous experience within an accounting environment will be considered advantageous, although motivated candidates with the required qualifications are encouraged to apply.
  • Language Skills: Excellent command of both Maltese and English is required to succeed in this role. 
  • Communication Skills: Able to communicate financial information clearly and professionally with colleagues, clients, and external authorities.
  • Interpersonal Skills: A collaborative team player who builds positive working relationships and contributes to a supportive working environment.
  • Technical Skills: Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Microsoft Excel. Experience using accounting software will be considered beneficial.
  • Organisation: Strong planning and organisational abilities with the capacity to manage multiple tasks, prioritise workloads, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Self-Motivated: A proactive individual with a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and the initiative to work independently when required.
  • Problem-Solving: Demonstrates sound judgement, excellent attention to detail, integrity when handling confidential information, and the ability to adapt to changing business needs.
