Role Overview
The Accounting Manager plays a critical role in overseeing and managing the accounting functions of our Client's finance department. This leadership position requires a strategic thinker who is committed to delivering accurate financial reporting, effective team management, and exceptional client service.
Responsibilities
- Department Leadership: Oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, ensuring the accurate and timely completion of financial reports and major accounting projects.
- Task and Project Management: Plan, prioritize, and allocate resources effectively to ensure that daily tasks and long-term projects are completed successfully and within deadlines.
- Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs, managing expectations, and ensuring high levels of satisfaction with the services provided.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and develop accounting staff through performance evaluations, goal-setting, training programs, and fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Professional Development: Support and guide staff in their professional growth by helping to identify career development opportunities and facilitating their educational advancement.
- Technical Training: Provide advanced technical training and support to junior staff members to ensure they are up-to-date with accounting practices and regulations.
- Policy and Methodology Enforcement: Establish and uphold accounting policies, procedures, and best practices to ensure compliance with IFRS, GAAP, and other relevant standards.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with senior management to identify inefficiencies in accounting processes and implement improvements to enhance the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
- Financial Oversight: Review and approve financial statements, reports, and documentation, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting principles and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications & Attributes
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with at least 2 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance; advanced certifications such as ACA, ACCA, or CPA are required. A Masters degree in Accounting or Finance is preferred.
- Team Management: Demonstrated ability to manage, motivate, and develop a team of accounting professionals to meet challenging deadlines and achieve departmental goals.
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with team members, clients, and stakeholders.
- Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of IFRS, GAAP, income tax regulations, and VAT legislation.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in MS Excel and familiar with accounting software; experience with enterprise-level financial systems is a plus.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to convey complex financial information clearly.
- Ethical Standards: Proven track record of upholding high ethical standards and professional integrity in all accounting practices.
- Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and delivering high-quality results within tight deadlines.
- Additional Knowledge: Experience with taxation, liquidations, or financial audits is considered an asset.
