Role Overview

Heroix is collaborating with our Client, a group within the food manufacturing, FMCG retail and distribution sectors, to recruit an Accounts Executive. The role involves supporting day-to-day accounting activities, keeping financial information reliable and assisting colleagues across the Business. This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys working with figures and wishes to develop their accounting experience within a busy commercial environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Account Reconciliations: Compare bank transactions, balances between group entities and supplier statements with accounting entries, investigating and resolving any differences.
• Monthly Journal Entries: Record the journals required each month, checking that entries are correctly allocated and supported.
• Transaction Processing: Enter invoices, receipts and payments into the accounting system, verifying the relevant details and documentation.
• Petty Cash Administration: Track small cash expenses, organise reimbursement documentation and keep the associated records in order.
• Accounting Records: Update financial records regularly, ensuring transactions are complete, correctly recorded and readily accessible.
• Departmental Coordination: Liaise with colleagues throughout the Company to obtain information, clarify transactions and support the timely completion of finance tasks.
• Additional Finance Support: Assist with other accounting assignments as departmental priorities require.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

• Education: An Advanced Level qualification in Accounting, an AAT qualification or a comparable accounting credential.
• Experience: Previous involvement in an accounts position would be beneficial.
• Language Skills: A strong command of English is required, while knowledge of Maltese would be advantageous.
• Communication Skills: Able to explain accounting queries clearly and exchange information effectively with colleagues.
• Interpersonal Skills: A cooperative approach and the ability to contribute positively to a team.
• Technical Skills: Comfortable using accounting systems, Microsoft Excel and other standard office applications.
• Attention to Detail: A careful and methodical approach when checking figures, entering transactions and reviewing documentation.
• Organisation: Able to prioritise routine accounting tasks and keep records orderly within a busy working environment.
• Self-Motivated: Willing to take responsibility for assigned work and build further accounting knowledge.
• Problem-Solving: Able to identify discrepancies, investigate their causes and seek clarification where necessary.
