About This Job

Overview

Join our kitchen team preparing high-quality, consistent dishes for a diverse clientele. The role focuses on station management, food preparation, and maintaining kitchen standards during part-time shifts.

Key Responsibilities

- Station Preparation & Cooking: Prepare, cook, and plate menu items to recipe and presentation standards for assigned station(s).

- Food Quality & Consistency: Ensure taste, portion control, and appearance meet established specifications.

- Mise en Place: Maintain organized mise en place, anticipate service needs, and replenish supplies during service.

- Food Safety & Hygiene: Follow HACCP and local food safety procedures; maintain a clean and sanitized workstation and equipment.

- Inventory & Stock Control: Monitor stock levels, assist with receiving deliveries, rotate stock (FIFO), and report shortages or discrepancies.

- Teamwork & Communication: Coordinate with other kitchen staff and front-of-house to ensure smooth service flow and timely ticket completion.

- Shift Management: Assist the chef de cuisine/sous chef with opening and closing duties for the station, including cleaning and prep for the next shift.

- Adaptability: Support other stations when required and handle peak service pressure while maintaining standards.

- Training & Development: Mentor junior kitchen staff and participate in on-the-job training to improve skills and knowledge.

Skills & Qualifications

- Experience: Previous experience as a Chef de Partie or similar role in a fast-paced kitchen; associate-level experience expected.

- Culinary Skills: Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, knife skills, portion control, and plating.

- Food Safety Certification: Formal training or certification in food safety and hygiene preferred.

- Languages: Professional working proficiency in English; basic conversational Maltese desirable.

- Physical Requirements: Ability to work on feet for prolonged periods, lift moderate weights, and work flexible hours including weekends and holidays.

- Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented, efficient, calm under pressure, reliable, and a collaborative team player.

- Availability: Willingness to work part-time onsite with schedule flexibility to meet service demands.
