
About This Job
We are seeking a Corporate Accountant to take responsibility for a portfolio of Malta-registered entities, ensuring the timely and accurate completion of month-end financial reporting, annual financial statements, and the submission of tax and VAT returns. The role will also support the Corporate Accounts Manager in the preparation of ad hoc financial and management reports, as required.
This position requires strong prioritisation skills, a hands-on and flexible approach, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple deadlines effectively. The ideal candidate will be proactive, confident, and highly organised, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and support the preparation of accounting entries processed by the finance team.
- Prepare and coordinate monthly and annual financial close processes.
- Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register.
- Prepare VAT reports, perform VAT reconciliations, and ensure timely submission of VAT returns.
- Liaise with local and international VAT consultants.
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with IFRS and GAPSME standards.
- Coordinate with external auditors during interim and year-end audits, ensuring all audit requirements and deadlines are met.
- Maintain CAPEX reporting for vessels and aircraft under construction.
- Manage and regularly update the contract database.
- Review tax returns prepared by external tax consultants.
- Liaise with directors and support the handling of compliance matters.
- Prepare ad hoc financial and management reports as required.
Requirements:
- 2 years + of work experience in accounting.
- Strong working knowledge of IFRS, Malta Tax and European VAT.
- Fluent in English, both spoken and written.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong expertise in Microsoft Excel.
- Thrives in a fast-paced working environment and demonstrates strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Results-oriented, responsible, highly meticulous, and detail-oriented.
- Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
