Role Overview
Heroix is collaborating with our Client within the professional services sector to recruit a Director – Accounting & Finance. This senior appointment will take responsibility for the Client’s external accounting functions, guiding teams that support local and international outsourcing assignments, maritime clients, private individuals and asset management activities. The successful candidate will ensure that every engagement is completed accurately, efficiently and in line with the Business’s service expectations.
Key Responsibilities

Client Accounting Leadership: Direct the delivery of externally provided finance and bookkeeping solutions across domestic and cross-border assignments.

Maritime Portfolio: Manage the financial services function supporting clients involved in shipping, yacht ownership and related activities.

Private Client Services: Ensure individuals and family clients receive reliable, discreet and appropriately tailored accounting assistance.

Asset Management Support: Supervise the financial and operational administration provided to the Business’s investment-related division.

Service Standards: Introduce clear benchmarks for precision, consistency and completion times, while regularly reviewing performance against these expectations.

People Leadership: Build a capable finance team through effective recruitment, coaching, performance management and succession planning.

Functional Coordination: Work closely with the Financial Controller to maintain well-defined ownership between external client assignments and the organisation’s own financial activities.

Operational Reporting: Provide the Director of Business Operations with meaningful updates on workloads, available resources, delivery performance and emerging priorities.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

Education: A recognised professional accountancy qualification, such as ACCA, ACA, CPA or another comparable credential, is required.

Experience: A minimum of 7 years’ relevant experience within outsourced or client-focused accounting, gained in a trust, corporate services or similar professional environment.

Specialist Exposure: Previous involvement in maritime finance, yacht-related accounts or financial services for private individuals would be considered beneficial.

Leadership Experience: Demonstrated ability to guide accounting professionals and manage work across clients with differing structures and requirements.

Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.

Communication Skills: Able to explain financial matters clearly, maintain constructive client dialogue and present operational information confidently to senior stakeholders.

Interpersonal Skills: A collaborative and credible leader who can develop trusted relationships with colleagues, clients and decision-makers.

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of client accounting operations, outsourced finance processes, financial administration and effective control procedures.
