About This Job

Overall Purpose

The Facilities, Maintenance and H&S Manager is responsible for the organisation's physical infrastructure, buildings and maintenance operations, and for leading the Company's Health & Safety function. The role ensures a safe, efficient, compliant and well-maintained workplace, oversees the Facilities and Sustainability Executive and the Health & Safety Officer, and drives the organisation's sustainability, risk-management and regulatory compliance agenda.

Main Duties & Responsibility

  • Oversee the organisation's physical infrastructure, buildings, plant and equipment (excluding workshop equipment) to ensure a safe, efficient, well-maintained and compliant workplace across all sites.
  • Manage and supervise the Facilities and Sustainability Executive, the Health & Safety Officer and maintenance staff, allocating workload, setting priorities and reviewing performance.
  • Plan, coordinate and review daily, weekly and long-term maintenance schedules, and forecast the facilities' upcoming needs and requirements.
  • Source, negotiate with and manage contractors and service providers for security, maintenance, cleaning, and other facilities-related services, ensuring value for money and service quality.
  • Own and manage facilities and maintenance-related budgets, monitoring spend to ensure cost effectiveness and reporting variances to senior management.
  • Plan, coordinate and oversee building projects, renovations, site improvements and office moves from inception to completion.
  • Ensure utilities and core building services (water, heating, electrical, etc.) are properly maintained and any faults are resolved promptly.
  • Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of the Company's Health & Safety policies, procedures and emergency evacuation plans.
  • Ensure the Company's full compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, environmental legislation and other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee risk assessments, hazard identification and the implementation of control measures across all sites, reviewing and approving action plans.
  • Ensure regular site inspections, safety audits and equipment testing are carried out, and that outstanding corrective actions are tracked to close-out.
  • Oversee the investigation of accidents, incidents and near-misses, ensuring root causes are identified, documented and used to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure accident registers, risk assessments, inspection records and training logs are properly maintained and kept up to date.
  • Organise and oversee the delivery of Health & Safety training, inductions and toolbox talks for employees and contractors.
  • Drive the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives, including waste management, energy conservation and carbon footprint reduction programs.
  • Collaborate with other departments to embed sustainable practices and a strong safety culture into daily operations.
  • Communicate and promote facilities, safety and sustainability goals to staff and stakeholders, and report progress to senior management.
  • Stay informed of emerging trends, technologies and best practices in facilities management, health & safety and sustainability, recommending improvements where relevant.

Qualifications

  • ‘A’ Level Standard Level of Education
  • Minimum three years of proven experience in a similar managerial role.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work effectively.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.
