About This Job

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Finance Assistant to join our team. The role involves posting invoices, performing bank reconciliations, assisting in month-end closing procedures, and ensuring accurate financial record-keeping. The Finance assistant will also work closely with other departments to ensure smooth financial operations and compliance with company policies.

Principal responsibilities

  • Updating accounting records, including but not limited to journal entries, EPOS entries and posting of supplier and intercompany invoices.
  • Maintaining the creditors ledger, including payments to local and foreign suppliers by bank transfers on a timely basis, follow-up any queries or refunds and reconciliation of supplier’s statements.
  • Maintaining the debtor’s ledger, including assisting in debt collection, preparation of sales invoices, monitoring bank receipts and posting on a timely basis.
  • Updating of the fixed assets registers.
  • Checking stores cash reconciliations and flagging over and under amounts to management.
  • Periodic cash counts at various cash points.
  • Assisting in the preparation of various balance sheet reconciliations, including but not limited to bank, cash and creditors
  • Support Audit preparation by gathering required documnets.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing tasks.
  • Support accounts receivable functions by issuing sales invoices, tracking payments, and following up on outstanding balances.
  • Assist in conducting cash counts and stock spot checks in retail locations.
  • Assist in compiling statistical and other declarations.
  • Maintaining an orderly financial filing system.
  • Carrying out the ad-hoc office duties as may be requested by the management.

Qualifications

  • Be proficient in computer-related applications such as Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Have at least 2 years of local experience in a finance role.
  • Be responsible, meticulous, highly organised, punctual, able to multi-task and work well under pressure.
  • Have good communication skills in English.

Knowledge of Shireburn Financial Management (SFM) will be considered an asset. Applicants must at a minimum have an O’ level standard or equivalent in Accounting.
