This senior position combines strategic planning with hands-on operational leadership. The successful candidate will strengthen supplier partnerships, improve stock management, identify commercial efficiencies and lead the teams responsible for purchasing and warehouse operations. Working closely with key departments across the Company, the role will ensure that supply chain activities remain aligned with production priorities and wider business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supply Chain Leadership: Direct the Company's purchasing, procurement, inventory and warehouse functions, ensuring effective coordination across all areas.

  • Strategic Planning: Create and execute supply chain plans that support manufacturing demand, operational priorities and the longer-term direction of the Business.

  • Supplier Management: Build and maintain productive supplier partnerships while overseeing sourcing activities, commercial negotiations, contractual arrangements and supplier reviews.

  • Material Availability: Coordinate purchasing activities to maintain a dependable flow of raw materials, components and other essential supplies needed for production.

  • Warehouse Management: Provide oversight of warehouse operations, covering incoming goods, storage arrangements, internal stock transfers and outgoing deliveries.

  • Inventory Control: Introduce and maintain robust stock management practices that support appropriate inventory levels while limiting shortages, unnecessary holdings and associated costs.

  • Cross-Functional Planning: Work closely with production, finance and other internal stakeholders to ensure purchasing and stock planning reflect operational demand.

  • Cost and Process Improvement: Review supply chain activities to uncover savings opportunities, streamline workflows and strengthen overall operational performance.

  • Performance Monitoring: Define and track meaningful performance measures across areas such as purchasing, supplier effectiveness, stock accuracy, inventory movement and warehouse output.

  • Team Management: Lead and develop purchasing and warehouse employees, setting clear expectations, encouraging accountability and managing individual and team performance.

  • Compliance and Standards: Ensure supply chain and warehouse activities are conducted in accordance with internal procedures, quality requirements, health and safety obligations and relevant regulatory standards.

  • Systems and Reporting: Contribute to the ongoing development and effective use of ERP platforms, management reporting and other systems supporting supply chain operations.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

  • Education: A degree or relevant professional qualification in Supply Chain Management, Procurement, Logistics, Business Management or another closely related discipline.

  • Experience: Substantial experience across procurement, purchasing, inventory and warehouse management is required, ideally gained within a manufacturing setting. Previous senior-level responsibility for teams and operational results is essential.

  • Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication abilities, with the confidence to negotiate effectively and communicate across different levels of the Business.

  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent stakeholder management capabilities, with the ability to establish constructive relationships with suppliers, colleagues, management and cross-functional teams.

  • Technical Skills: Sound knowledge of manufacturing supply chains, materials planning, inventory control, supplier negotiations, contractual management and ERP or stock management systems.

  • Organisation: Excellent planning and prioritisation skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple supply chain activities while maintaining visibility over operational requirements.

  • Self-Motivated: A proactive and commercially minded approach, with the confidence to take ownership of both strategic priorities and day-to-day operational matters.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical judgement with the ability to identify inefficiencies, address supply chain challenges and implement practical improvements.

  • Leadership: Proven ability to manage, motivate and develop teams while establishing clear responsibilities and maintaining strong performance standards.

  • Commercial Awareness: A strong understanding of cost management and operational efficiency, balanced with the need to protect product quality and maintain continuity of supply.
