The Machine Operator is responsible for ensuring smooth and productive day-to-day operations by efficiently and safely operating equipment, producing high-quality products, and achieving production output.
Key duties and responsibilities of the role:
- Operate specialized filling & packing machinery while strictly following the standard operating procedures and food safety regulations.
- Adhere to strict hygiene standards, ensuring a clean and sanitized production environment and equipment to prevent contamination and ensure food safety.
- Perform timely quality checks and make necessary corrections when required.
- Raise maintenance requests.
- Collect data related to the process and product.
- Identify and report sources of waste within the operations, determining root causes and recommending corrective actions.
- Adhere to the 5S principles to maintain an organized and efficient work environment.
- Handle raw materials and finished products as required while operating material handling equipment.
- Adhere to safety regulations and best practices to create a safe work environment. Report any equipment or work practices that could danger one’s health or safety.
- Actively participating in training sessions (receiving and delivering).
- Foster strong relationships and effective communication channels with cross-functional teams & departments to ensure seamless coordination and information sharing.
- Perform other relevant tasks assigned by superiors as required.
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
- A minimum of MQF Level 3 Qualification and/or previous experience in a similar role is desirable and would be considered an asset.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment or a food preparation establishment will be considered an asset.
- Analytical and numerical skills (ability to perform simple mathematical calculations).
- Keen attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to make adjustments quickly.
- Good communication skills and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
- Good spoken and written English.
