About This Job

Overview  

Operate and maintain readymix concrete trucks to deliver high-quality concrete to construction sites safely, on time, and in accordance with instructions and regulations. Provide courteous customer service on site and support basic vehicle upkeep.

Key Responsibilities

- Drive and operate readymix concrete truck safely on public roads and within sites, adhering to traffic laws and company safety procedures.

- Load, mix, and discharge concrete to specified mix designs and customer instructions, ensuring correct slump, consistency, and quantity.

- Plan and execute deliveries to meet scheduled times, including route planning, time management, and communicating delays or issues to dispatch.

- Site coordination: liaise with site personnel to determine delivery location, placement requirements, and access constraints; assist with chutes and pumps as required.

- Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and basic vehicle checks (fluids, lights, tires, brakes); report defects and safety concerns promptly.

- Maintain cleanliness and basic maintenance of the vehicle and equipment (wash drum, grease points, minor adjustments) or escalate to maintenance team when needed.

- Recordkeeping and paperwork: complete delivery tickets, timesheets, and incident/maintenance reports accurately.

- Adhere to safety and compliance: follow PPE requirements, safe lifting/manual handling practices, HSE regulations, and waste/disposal rules.

- Provide professional customer service, representing the company courteously to clients, site managers, and colleagues.

Skills and Qualifications

- Valid heavy vehicle driving license C appropriate for operating trucks in Malta.

- Entry-level experience driving heavy goods vehicles preferred; experience with readymix operations is an advantage but not mandatory.

- Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to perform routine vehicle checks and simple maintenance.

- Knowledge of road safety rules and safe site working practices.

- Good time management and ability to work to schedules under pressure.

- Basic literacy and numeracy to complete delivery paperwork and follow mix instructions.

- Communication skills in English and Maltese at a functional level to interact with dispatch and site personnel.

- Physically fit, able to perform manual handling and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

- Willingness to work onsite, including early starts, variable hours, and occasional overtime as required.
