Role Overview

Heroix is collaborating with our Client to recruit a Retail Support Representative for its food production business. This varied position combines visits to retail outlets with office-based reporting, helping the Business strengthen product presentation, gather valuable market intelligence and support commercial initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Retail Outlet Visits: Visit supermarkets and independent shops across Malta to review product availability, presentation and overall retail conditions.

• Commercial Campaigns: Contribute to specific sales projects and promotional activities allocated by the Business Development Department.

• Merchandising Support: Help the sales team maintain attractive, well-organised displays that follow the approved layouts, brand requirements and campaign instructions.

• Stock Monitoring: Review inventory levels, sales movement and shelf availability, recommending additional stock where demand indicates that replenishment is needed.

• Product Checks: Examine date rotation, freshness, refrigeration temperatures and shelf condition to help protect product quality.

• Market Intelligence: Record information about competitor prices, promotions, positioning and visibility, together with comments received from retailers and consumers.

• Customer Assistance: Respond to straightforward product or service enquiries and refer matters requiring further attention to the appropriate internal team.

• Display Materials: Ensure that signage, promotional items and other point-of-sale materials are presented neatly and used correctly.

• Promotional Events: Assist with the preparation of tasting sessions, retail promotions and other brand-related events whenever required.

• Business Opportunities: Identify prospective customers, newly opened stores, changes in outlet ownership and possibilities to introduce a wider selection of products to existing accounts.

• Account Observations: Highlight shifts in customer purchasing behaviour, product performance, concerns raised by retailers and potential commercial opportunities.

• Reporting: Prepare clear daily or weekly updates containing both numerical findings and observations collected during outlet visits.

• Product Transportation: Provide occasional assistance with moving goods between the Company and its customers when requested by the Quality Assurance Team.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes

• Education: A formal academic qualification is not essential; practical knowledge gained through relevant merchandising or field-based work will be valued.

• Driving Requirements: A valid Category B driving licence and access to a personal vehicle are essential.

• Experience: Applicants should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in FMCG merchandising or a comparable retail support position.

• Language Skills: Fluency in both Maltese and English is essential for this role.

• Communication Skills: Able to communicate clearly and professionally with shop personnel, customers, sales colleagues and other internal departments.

• Interpersonal Skills: Friendly, approachable and comfortable developing positive working relationships across different retail environments.

• Technical Skills: Confident using Microsoft Excel for compiling reports and Microsoft Word for preparing basic documentation. Knowledge of planograms and retail presentation practices is also required.

• Organisation: Capable of planning outlet visits, managing information accurately and completing reports within the expected timeframes.

• Self-Motivated: Comfortable carrying out fieldwork independently with limited supervision while also contributing effectively as part of a wider team.

• Problem-Solving: Able to recognise retail issues, gather the relevant facts and communicate practical recommendations or escalate concerns appropriately.

• Attention to Detail: Careful when examining prices, dates, stock quantities, shelf presentation and promotional compliance.

• Physical Capability: Fit enough to handle and reposition crates of products safely when the duties require it.

• Compensation: A competitive base salary.

• Working Hours: This is a full-time position with working days between Monday and Saturday. The employee will spend part of the day visiting retail outlets across Malta before returning to the office in the afternoon.

• Car Allowance: A monthly allowance will be provided for the use of the employee’s personal vehicle while performing work duties.
