Role Overview
The Security Systems Installer will support the delivery of fire detection and security system projects at customer locations. The selected individual will assemble and connect extra-low-voltage equipment in accordance with technical plans while ensuring that every assignment is completed safely, accurately and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- System Installation: Fit cabling, electrical components, devices and related infrastructure for fire detection and security solutions in line with approved technical plans.
- Repairs and Upkeep: Assist with identifying faults, replacing defective components and carrying out servicing work on installed equipment.
- Site Readiness: Help prepare work areas and organise the materials, tools and equipment required before installation activities begin.
- Cabling Standards: Route conduits and cables neatly and accurately while observing applicable technical requirements, safety practices and quality expectations.
- Project Completion: Bring assigned installation work through to completion while safeguarding workmanship and meeting the Client’s agreed requirements.
- Documentation: Record the work performed and submit the relevant installation forms and supporting paperwork accurately and promptly.
- Tools and Equipment: Use hand tools, access equipment and other installation resources responsibly, keeping all assigned items properly organised and maintained.
- Safe Working Practices: Follow established site procedures and use steps, ladders and equipment carefully throughout each assignment.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
- Education: A relevant technical or vocational qualification would be advantageous. Applicants holding an Electrical Licence A will be given preference.
- Experience: Previous exposure to the installation of fire detection, alarm, access control, CCTV or related security technology would be considered an asset.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
- Communication Skills: Able to understand instructions, clarify technical information and provide clear updates regarding progress or site-related matters.
- Interpersonal Skills: Comfortable cooperating with technicians, supervisors, customers and other contractors while maintaining a courteous and professional approach.
- Technical Skills: Confident in handling standard manual tools and capable of following technical layouts when positioning, wiring and connecting ELV equipment.
- Organisation: Able to manage tools, materials, records and daily assignments carefully while keeping the working area orderly.
- Self-Motivated: Willing to take ownership of allocated tasks and remain productive with limited supervision.
- Teamwork: Equally comfortable completing individual assignments and contributing as part of an installation crew.
- Adaptability: Prepared to respond constructively to changing site conditions, practical constraints and unexpected technical requirements.
- Problem-Solving: Capable of assessing practical installation issues and identifying sensible solutions without affecting safety or workmanship.
- Safety Awareness: Able to use ladders and access equipment responsibly while respecting site rules and safe working procedures.
