Role Overview

Our Client is seeking an experienced Senior Full Stack Developer to contribute to technology solutions used for transaction monitoring, case investigation and regulatory risk management, including Anti-Money Laundering, fraud prevention and responsible gaming.

Working closely with product and implementation specialists, the successful candidate will help translate complex business and technical requirements into reliable software solutions. The position involves developing applications capable of processing significant transaction volumes, supporting sophisticated monitoring rules, anomaly identification and effective visual analysis of potentially suspicious activity.

Key Responsibilities

• Software Development: Evaluate technical requirements and develop robust, scalable software solutions that address complex product and customer needs.
• Project Implementation: Work alongside implementation specialists on technical elements of client projects, including system integrations, configuration, tailored development and performance requirements.
• Product Enhancement: Contribute to the ongoing evolution of the Company's technology products by identifying improvements and developing new or enhanced functionality.
• Technical Troubleshooting: Investigate software and system issues, provide technical guidance and assist with resolving support requests when required.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, technical and implementation teams throughout the development and deployment lifecycle to ensure solutions meet functional and technical objectives.

Qualifications, Skills and Attributes

• Education: A degree in Computer Science, Software Development or another relevant technology discipline is required.
• Experience: At least four years of professional software development experience involving web-based and client/server application environments.
• Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
• Communication Skills: Strong communication abilities with the confidence to discuss technical requirements, challenges and solutions with colleagues across different functions.
• Interpersonal Skills: A collaborative approach with the ability to work effectively alongside product, implementation and technical teams.
• Programming Skills: Strong development capability using Golang and/or Java, together with practical knowledge of web application frameworks.
• Systems Knowledge: Hands-on experience working within Linux environments and a sound understanding of secure application development and relevant security protocols.
• Database Skills: Good knowledge of SQL, database administration principles and working with data-intensive applications.
• Integration Technologies: Experience with messaging and middleware platforms such as Kafka or RabbitMQ is required.
• Cloud and Container Technologies: Knowledge of Docker and/or Kubernetes for developing, deploying or managing cloud-based applications would be considered an advantage.
• Front-End Development: Previous exposure to React, together with an understanding of effective user interface design, would be beneficial.
• Data Technologies: Familiarity with technologies used for high-volume data processing, including Apache Kafka, Apache Spark or time-series databases, would be advantageous.
• Organisation: Strong time-management skills with the ability to prioritise development activities and maintain accuracy when working across multiple technical requirements.
• Self-Motivated: A proactive mindset with the initiative to take ownership of technical challenges and contribute ideas that improve products and processes.
• Problem-Solving: A structured and analytical approach to identifying issues, evaluating possible solutions and implementing effective technical outcomes.
• Attention to Detail: A careful and systematic working style, particularly when developing applications involving sensitive financial, compliance and transactional data.
