Role Overview \nThe Senior Mechanical Engineer will take a leading role in designing, implementing, and maintaining mechanical systems within public green spaces. This position involves ensuring that all mechanical infrastructure supports sustainability objectives, integrates seamlessly with other park elements, and meets high standards of safety, efficiency, and functionality.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Systems Design: Develop and design mechanical systems for park facilities, such as irrigation, lighting, water features, and waste management, including preparation of tender documentation. Ensure systems comply with relevant regulations and sustainability objectives.
\n\t
Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with landscape architects, civil engineers, and project managers to integrate mechanical systems into park designs efficiently and cost-effectively.
\n\t
Feasibility Studies: Conduct feasibility assessments to evaluate the practicality, cost-effectiveness, and performance of proposed mechanical systems, providing expert recommendations based on findings.
\n\t
Maintenance Planning: Create and implement maintenance plans for mechanical systems to ensure long-term reliability and efficiency. Collaborate with maintenance teams to support preventive strategies.
\n\t
Innovation and Research: Stay up to date with emerging mechanical engineering technologies and trends, introducing innovative solutions that enhance sustainability and user experience within public parks.

Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
\n\n
\n\t
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (MQF Level 6) or equivalent recognised qualification. A valid Mechanical Engineering warrant is required, or if the warrant is pending, to be in hand within the next 12 months.
\n\t
Experience: Minimum of 24 months of progressive experience in mechanical engineering projects, ideally within public or green space infrastructure.
\n\t
Driving License: Have a valid driving license, Category B.
\n\t
Language Skills: Excellent command of both Maltese and English is required.
\n\t
Communication Skills: Strong ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to colleagues, stakeholders, and external contractors.
\n\t
Interpersonal Skills: Capable of fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams and managing professional relationships effectively.
\n\t
Technical Skills: Expertise in mechanical systems design, feasibility analysis, and maintenance planning; familiarity with relevant engineering regulations and sustainability standards.
\n\t
Organisation: Able to plan and prioritise multiple projects, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are consistently met.
