Role Overview
The Senior Regulatory Advisor will report to the Directors, either directly or through the Head of Department. This role involves leading regulatory compliance projects, managing license applications, and providing expert consultancy support. The advisor will also mentor team members, deliver training sessions, and stay abreast of regulatory developments to ensure comprehensive compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Project leadership: Leading regulatory compliance projects and providing support to team members, ensuring that all deliverables are concluded in a timely manner.
Client liaison: Managing license applications and liaising with clients in relation to application submissions.
Regulatory expertise: Participating in engagements as an expert in regulatory on-site visits.
Mentorship: Coaching, mentoring, and guiding other advisors.
Training delivery: Delivering training sessions and workshops, as may be required from time to time.
Consultancy support: Providing consultancy and regulatory support to designated officers.
Review management: Managing internal and external reviews of the adequacy of policies and procedures and their implementation, and the drawing up of remediation plans.
Internal support: Providing internal support to the entities within the Group in the development of procedures and the application of those procedures.
Client enquiries: Responding to inquiries received from prospective clients and preparing proposals for the clients' consideration.
Marketing plans: Designing, executing, and evaluating the department's marketing plans to meet established targets and goals.
Content and business development: Contributing to content writing and business development.
Regulatory monitoring: Following the local and international regulatory scene, monitoring, and reviewing all developments within the regulatory environment.
Qualifications, Skills and Attributes
Education: A university degree or equivalent qualification in a related area.
Managerial experience: A minimum of 2 years experience in a managerial position.
Industry experience: A minimum of 5 years experience working within the financial services industry.
Regulatory knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the regulatory framework underlying the financial services industry, and related industries.
Organisational skills: Good organisational and project management skills, able to delegate work and manage a team.
Interpersonal skills: Strong interpersonal skills.
Ethical standards: A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards.
Attention to detail: Strong commitment to excellence and a keen eye for detail.
Time management: Able to prioritise and deliver quality work to meet strict deadlines.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proactivity: Proactive, attentive, and eager to ensure all regulatory compliance is adhered to, at all times.
Adaptability: Ability to keep abreast with upcoming developments and willingness to quickly respond to changes within the industry.
Experience with regulatory bodies: Previous experience working with a regulatory/supervisory body or advisory firm will be considered an asset.
