The Senior Technical Officer will hold a critical leadership role within the Malta Semiconductor Competence Centre (MSCC), driving the technical strategy and innovation that underpins the Centre’s objectives. This individual will play a vital role in shaping and executing the MSCC’s long-term technical strategy, with a primary focus on the development of its Co-Design for Packaging and Heterogeneous Integration capabilities. He/she will work closely with cross-functional teams and external collaborators to identify new research areas and ensure the Centre’s technical offerings remain cutting-edge and aligned with industry trends.
A crucial part of this role is to work collaboratively with the Support Coordinator and Business Development Expert, leveraging their insights to define and refine the MSCC’s technical strategy and identify future areas of research. The Senior Technical Officer will also engage with academic institutions, such as the University of Malta and MCAST, to source specialized expertise, ensuring the Centre benefits from the latest academic developments and technological advancements. Additionally, the individual will be an integral member of the Technical Committee, which will guide the Centre's technical focus and initiatives.
The person will also liaise with the incubator participants to explore how joint R*D projects can be undertaken with other players in the local eco-system.
This role might also entail occasional travel to cover areas related to the European competence centre network as well as discussions that are taking place on semiconductors.
The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of technical aspects related to semiconductors and advanced manufacturing technologies, coupled with proven leadership skills and the ability to drive complex projects to successful outcomes.
