Role Overview
This position sits within the Technical Compliance function. The Technical Compliance Junior Analyst will contribute to the evaluation of licence-holder submissions, assist with technical assurance activities, and support both remote and on-site compliance work. The role plays an important part in assessing gaming systems, infrastructure, and controls to confirm alignment with regulatory expectations and internal standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Application Assessment: Review submissions from licensed operators, focusing on technical documentation such as system architecture, security controls, operational processes, and contractual arrangements to confirm compliance with applicable requirements.
- Audit Support & Fieldwork: Assist in compliance assurance activities, including reviewing third-party audit outputs, supporting inspections locally and abroad, and participating in supervisory visits where required.
- Compliance Monitoring & Reporting: Evaluate post-review submissions from licence holders, coordinate with internal teams and external stakeholders, and help ensure that findings, recommendations, and final reports are accurately prepared and issued.
- Issue Management & Escalation: Track identified non-conformities, communicate findings to relevant parties, escalate concerns internally where necessary, and follow through to ensure timely resolution.
- Technical Reviews & System Oversight: Examine notifications related to system security incidents affecting data confidentiality, integrity, or availability, and engage with operators to obtain clarifications or further evidence when required.
- Change & Product Evaluation: Assess applications related to new gaming products, system modifications, providers, domains, and vertical expansions, ensuring all changes meet regulatory expectations.
- System Audits Initiation: Launch and support system review exercises when required, contributing to structured evaluation processes and documentation of findings.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Participate in meetings with prospective licence applicants and liaise with other departments to ensure consistent regulatory interpretation and operational alignment.
- Reporting & Documentation: Assist in drafting formal reports, technical memoranda, and internal documentation to support decision-making and record-keeping.
- General Duties: Carry out additional tasks as assigned by management in support of departmental objectives and organisational priorities.
Qualifications, Skills, and Attributes
- Education: Diploma (MQF Level 5 or equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Experience: Prior exposure to IT auditing, financial auditing, or systems analysis is advantageous, though not essential. A strong interest in technology and regulatory environments is highly valued.
- Language Skills: Excellent command of English is required to succeed in this role. The ability to communicate in Maltese would be an asset.
- Communication Skills: Ability to present technical findings clearly in both written reports and verbal discussions.
- Interpersonal Skills: Comfortable engaging with internal teams and external stakeholders in a professional and constructive manner.
- Technical Skills: Understanding of IT systems, information security principles, and/or audit methodologies.
- Organisation: Able to manage multiple assignments simultaneously while maintaining accuracy and meeting deadlines.
- Self-Motivated: Demonstrates initiative, accountability, and a proactive approach to tasks and learning.
- Problem-Solving: Capable of identifying risks, evaluating information critically, and proposing practical recommendations.
