Position Overview
Operate and maintain forklift equipment to safely and efficiently move, load, unload, and organize goods within a busy warehouse and distribution environment. Ensure compliance with safety procedures, accurate handling of inventory, and timely support for warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate forklift and related material-handling equipment to load/unload trucks, move pallets, and stage products for storage or dispatch.
- Receive and inspect incoming shipments, verifying quantities and documentation; report discrepancies or damaged goods.
- Prepare orders for shipment, including picking, palletizing, labeling, and securing loads.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through hand-held scanners or warehouse management systems; assist with cycle counts and stock reconciliation.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations, perform pre-shift equipment checks, and promptly report mechanical issues or hazards.
- Keep warehouse areas clean and organized, including safe stacking of goods and proper storage of hazardous materials when applicable.
- Coordinate with warehouse team and supervisors to prioritize tasks, meet dispatch schedules, and support continuous workflow.
- Assist with light maintenance tasks related to forklifts (e.g., charging batteries, basic cleaning) and participate in scheduled equipment servicing.
Skills and Qualifications
- Valid forklift operator certification/licence and demonstrated safe operating experience (entry-level candidates with certified training considered).
- Basic literacy and numeracy to read labels, interpret shipping documents, and count inventory accurately.
- Proficient English (professional working level) for clear communication with team and supervisors.
- Physical fitness and stamina, able to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills to maintain correct inventory and load integrity.
- Team-player attitude, reliable timekeeping, and flexibility to meet operational needs and schedules.
- Commitment to safety with an understanding of warehouse health and safety practices and PPE usage.
