
About This Job
The housekeeper is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in guest rooms, hallways, and other public areas within the hotel. Housekeepers play a key role in enhancing the guest experience by ensuring the hotel is clean, welcoming, and safe for all guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitise guest rooms, including making beds, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, and mopping floors.
- Replace linens, towels, and toiletries as needed.
- Ensure rooms are stocked with necessary supplies, such as toilet paper, soap, shampoo, and linens.
- Check and clean windows, mirrors, and furniture to ensure they are free of dust and stains.
- Empty trash bins and replace garbage bags in all rooms.
- Clean and disinfect bathroom fixtures, including toilets, sinks, showers, tubs, and mirrors.
- Replace used towels with fresh ones and ensure the bathroom is well-stocked with amenities.
- Ensure bathroom surfaces, floors, and walls are spotless and free of mold, mildew, or soap scum.
- Clean and maintain hotel lobbies, hallways, stairwells, and restrooms.
- Dust and polish furniture, light fixtures, and surfaces in public areas.
- Replenish supplies (e.g., toilet paper, hand soap) in public restrooms.
- Ensure that all linens meet the hotel’s quality standards.
- Monitor and report inventory levels of cleaning supplies, linens, and guest amenities to supervisors.
- Ensure that cleaning supplies are stored safely and correctly.
- Keep track of any damage or wear-and-tear in guest rooms and report it for maintenance.
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations regarding cleaning procedures, chemical use, and handling of hazardous materials.
- Follow proper procedures for handling cleaning equipment and supplies.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment by reporting any hazards or maintenance issues to management.
- Provide exceptional customer service by ensuring that guest rooms are cleaned promptly and to their satisfaction.
- Respond to guest requests and resolve minor issues (e.g., missing towels or amenities).
- Always maintain a professional appearance and attitude when interacting with guests.
- Work with the housekeeping team and other hotel staff to ensure all areas are cleaned efficiently and effectively.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and management to ensure smooth operations.
Requirements
- Previous experience in housekeeping within the hospitality industry is considered as an asset.
- Proficiency in spoken English.
Skills
- Good communication skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Basic knowledge of cleaning products and equipment.
