About This Job

Our client, a recognised CSP, is expanding their accounting team and are looking for an Accounts Supervisor to take a leading role in overseeing client portfolios, supervising the accounting team, and ensuring the delivery of accurate, timely, and high-quality financial services.

Responsibilities:
  • Managing and supervising a portfolio of clients with professionalism and care
  • Reviewing accounting records, reconciliations, and financial reports prepared by team members
  • Supervising and coordinating the daily workflow of the accounting team
  • Conducting financial data analysis to support business decision-making
  • Preparing and reviewing management reports and delivering insightful commentary to clients
  • Ensuring financial statements comply with relevant accounting standards and regulatory requirements
  • Monitoring and maintaining accurate accounting records and internal controls
  • Reviewing and approving VAT returns and other statutory submissions in a timely manner
  • Supervising income tax calculations and related submissions
  • Providing technical guidance, mentoring, and performance support to junior and senior accounting staff
  • Assisting management with staff allocation, planning, and performance monitoring
  • Ensuring monthly targets, plans, and deadlines are achieved efficiently and accurately
  • Identifying process improvements and implementing efficient accounting practices and procedures
  • Representing the Company professionally in meetings and communications with clients and third parties

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • ACCA qualification or progress towards ACCA is considered an asset
  • 6 years+ of experience in an accounting role, ideally within the Maltese market
  • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience will be considered an asset
  • Solid understanding of Maltese accounting standards, VAT, and tax regulations
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge and attention to detail
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and team supervision skills, with the ability to mentor and support team members
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple client needs and deadlines
  • Strong communication and client relationship skills
  • Proficiency with accounting software such as Xero and strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • A proactive approach to identifying issues and implementing practical solutions
