
About This Job
Our Client, a Corporate Service Provider, is looking to hire a Corporate Lawyer to join the Corporate and Legal Department.
Responsibilities:
- Setting up and registering Maltese companies, trusts and foundations.
- Assisting individuals taking up residency in Malta.
- Day to day administration of Maltese companies, trusts and foundations.
- Attending client entities' board meetings and circulating of agendas, proxy forms and taking minutes.
- Assisting with all relevant compliance/statutory obligations for companies, trusts, foundations and individuals including liaison with regulated entities and authorities (e.g. MBR and the Tax Department), other service providers (e.g. law firms, auditors, banks) and the firm's own internal department (such as the compliance department and accounting services department) with regard to corporate matters.
- Keeping the client portfolio in good standing and compliant with Maltese laws.
- Ensuring that the firm remains updated of any changes to legislation, particularly in relation to corporate and commercial laws and compliance obligations.
- Conducting legal research on various points of law and providing consolidated legal opinions to clients.
- Drafting of contracts on various areas in accordance with the needs of the clients.
- Drafting of internal policies at the exigencies of the Company may from time to time demand.
Requirements:
- In possession of a University degree in law and hold a warrant to practice in Malta.
- At least 2 years professional experience in a similar role after having graduated as a lawyer.
- Excellent command in both English and Maltese.
- Self-motivated and ability to work on own initiative and as part of the team.
- Computer literate with a good knowledge of Office applications.
- Proven ability to manage multiple tasks while working independently and on one's own initiative.
- Strong attention to detail and highly organised.
- Ability to communicate, both written and verbal, with people at all levels of the organisation and the ability to establish positive relationships with clients and work colleagues alike.
- Ability to work in a team with a 'can do' attitude.
- A strong sense of urgency and commitment to get the job done to a high standard and the ability to meet deadlines.
