About This Job
Our client, a leading professional services firm, is looking for a Director - Financial Advisory Services to join its Advisory team.
The Financial Advisory Services (FAS) team provides a broad range of advisory services to clients and the FAS Director must be capable of managing assignments and reporting directly to the partners, whilst also interfacing with clients, financiers, auditors and other professionals; know when to seek advice from other specialists, colleagues and/or partners and demonstrate analytical skills and judgment, as well as leadership to staff by delegating, reviewing, mentoring and coaching staff members. The individual must provide strategic leadership, shape the direction of the advisory team, and contribute to the overall success, profitability and growth of the department.
Responsibilities:

Demonstrate technical knowledge of various industries as well as assessing which key performance indicators would apply to each industry and applying them to understand and analyse the client’s needs.

Leads the team in various corporate finance assignments, including company valuations, IFRS reporting, feasibilities and financial due diligences.

Provide executive leadership and mentorship to the team.

Demonstrates expertise in the application of IFRS, particularly new standards and is seen by peers and subordinates as a reference point for advice on technical areas.

Demonstrates and understands technical issues arising in an assignment, offering solutions, and seeking advice when appropriate.

Resolves and identifies risk management issues and applies knowledge to manage such issues.

Ensures that all time is recorded appropriately and that all members within the team are adequately filling in their timesheets.

Managing assignments from start to finish, including issuing of letters of engagement, ensuring that know-your-client procedures are completed by the Risk & Compliance team, compiling a financial model and drafting reports, issuing bills and chasing of debtors. The director must also ensure that all files are saved and that the engagement is closed off within client stipulated deadlines.

Managing various project at a time, and ensuring that all deliverables are met on time and within budget, and that clients are satisfied with the job delivered.

Mentor, manage, and evaluate team members' performance, including the setting of timelines, and key performance indicators.

Play a key role in business development and client acquisition.

Define and execute the department's long-term strategy and goals.

Manage and nurture key client relationships.

Contribute to the growth and profitability of the advisory practice.

Contribute to the wider firm strategy.

Lead key client relationships and high-impact consulting projects.

Drive business development efforts and revenue growth.
Requirements:

ACCA qualified or Masters in Accountancy.
-
Minimum 12 years of experience in a similar role with managerial and leadership experience.

Exceptional strategic thinking, vision, and leadership abilities.

Strong business acumen and networking skills.

Proven track record in driving departmental success and profitability

Previous experience in transaction advisory, ideally in corporate finance.

Managerial experience.

Experience in client facing work.

Experience in developing and mentoring junior staff.

Developing ability to build and maintain a network of industry contacts.

Extensive experience of drafting reports and reviewing reports and financial statements.

Good working knowledge of MS office applications, in particular Excel and powerpoint presentation, and use of shortcuts and formulas.

Be capable of writing high quality, professionally presented reports.

Review teams’ output, ensuring key issues are communicated effectively.

Ensure all files are closed down on completed projects in accordance with Grant Thornton policy (including approval sign off).

Demonstrate leadership within the team.

Have effective task delegation skills to junior accountants and review of work to ensure quality control.
