Our client, a well-established organisation within the contraction and real estate industry, is seeking to recruit a General Maintenance Lead to join its operations team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance of the company's warehouse, retail outlets, guesthouse, and other off-site locations. This is a hands-on role that combines practical maintenance work with team coordination, ensuring all facilities and equipment are maintained to a high standard while managing maintenance personnel and responding promptly to operational needs.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out general maintenance, repairs, installations, and preventative maintenance across the company's warehouse, retail outlets, guesthouse, and other off-site properties.
- Perform basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general repair works, including fixing leaks, replacing light fittings and switches, repairing doors, windows, and furniture.
- Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repairs, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on the company's fleet of vehicles to minimise breakdowns and downtime.
- Maintain, organise, and ensure the proper upkeep of maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies.
- Ensure all maintenance work is carried out safely and in accordance with health and safety standards.
- Identify maintenance issues requiring specialist contractors and report them to management while coordinating external service providers where necessary.
- Attend construction sites as required, carry out maintenance-related works, and provide regular progress updates to management.
- Monitor and manage maintenance requests received via email and internal software, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and allocated appropriately within the team.
- Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the maintenance team, ensuring workloads are managed effectively and projects are completed on time.
- Assist with the installation, setup, and maintenance of fixtures, fittings, and furnishings across company premises.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a general maintenance role, ideally within a commercial, retail, hospitality, or facilities management environment.
- Hands-on experience in plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and general building maintenance.
- Previous experience supervising or coordinating maintenance teams would be considered an asset.
- Good understanding of health and safety procedures and safe working practices.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
- Basic computer literacy and experience using email and task management software.
- Ability to work independently while also leading and supporting a team.
- A valid driving licence is essential.
