Overview 

Lead the finance function for a growing organisation, ensuring robust financial control, strategic planning, compliance, and stakeholder reporting. Act as a trusted commercial partner to senior leadership, driving decision-making through accurate analysis and forecasting.

Key Responsibilities

- Financial Leadership & Strategy

  - Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with business objectives.

  - Provide financial insight and recommendations to support growth, investment, and operational decisions.

- Financial Planning & Analysis

  - Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts and variance analyses.

  - Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial modelling; monitor KPIs and cash flow.

- Reporting & Compliance

  - Ensure timely statutory reporting, tax filings, and compliance with local regulatory requirements.

  - Coordinate external audits and act as primary liaison with auditors, tax advisors, and regulators.

- Treasury & Cash Management

  - Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and working capital optimisation.

  - Oversee treasury operations, payment controls, and foreign exchange exposure as applicable.

- Controls & Risk Management

  - Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and SOX/finance-related compliance frameworks.

  - Identify financial risks and implement mitigation measures.

- Operational Finance & Systems

  - Oversee accounting function including AR/AP, payroll, fixed assets, and month-end close.

  - Drive improvements in finance processes and implement/optimise financial systems and ERP modules.

- Team Leadership & Development

  - Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team; set objectives, conduct performance reviews, and ensure knowledge transfer.

  - Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration.

- Stakeholder Management

  - Prepare board-level reports and present financial results to senior management.

  - Support commercial negotiations, contract reviews, and pricing analyses with finance input.

Skills & Qualifications

- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA, CA or equivalent) required.

- Minimum 8–10 years’ progressive finance experience with several years in a senior/leadership role; experience within corporate, services, or regulated sectors preferred.

- Strong technical accounting knowledge of IFRS and Maltese statutory requirements.

- Proven experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial modelling, cash management, and audit management.

- Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with accounting/ERP systems; experience implementing or optimising ERP/financial systems advantageous.

- Excellent analytical, commercial, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.

- Demonstrated ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders and the board.

- Leadership skills with experience managing and developing finance teams.

- Professional working proficiency in Maltese and full professional proficiency in English.

- High integrity, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work on-site in a fast-paced environment.
